Packing list for your night train journey: Find out which items you should take to enjoy a relaxing journey.
Below is a list of essential items for a good night's sleep. We recommend that you keep these items on hand. A small bag or rucksack that can be easily stowed away and a bum bag for your valuables are best (see also our blog posts Safety on night trains and How much luggage can I take?). This way, you can be sure you can store these essential items in your compartment.

Travel documents
- Tickets: preferably digital on your smartphone and a printout to be on the safe side
- Identity card or passport
- Visas and other documents if required for your destination
Comfort and sleep
- Sleeping mask and earplugs
- Your pillow if required - ahoy side sleepers
- If you tend to be cold: a jumper or an additional light blanket, warm socks
- Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended. The layering principle with several layers of clothing is also worth having an extra T-shirt for sleeping.
- Shoes or slippers to slip into if you need to go to the toilet at night
- Seating coach: neck pillow and blanket if necessary
Hygiene and health
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Emergency toilet paper/tissues, wet wipes and hand sanitiser
- Your personal medication

- Smartphone or tablet: download films and music in advance. The internet connection is not always stable
