Two night trains connect Berlin with Stockholm via Hamburg: the private Snälltåget and the SJ Euronight, run by the Swedish national railway. The SJ Euronight launched in September 2022 – with sleeping cars, which sets it apart from the Snälltåget – and has been subsidised by the Swedish government ever since. When this funding ran out in the summer of 2026, SJ withdrew from the service. For a moment, it seemed to spell the end for the connection.

But RDC Deutschland, which already provided the rolling stock and staff for the train on behalf of SJ, is taking over the service independently from this September. The Hamburg-based railway company will now continue to operate the train under the name RDC Euronight – with a slightly reduced timetable, which has now been published. Tickets for the period until mid-December are now also on sale.

Route and timetable

The train runs three times a week in each direction. Departure from Berlin is in the evening at 18:39, and from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof at 21:53. Arrival at Stockholm Central is the next morning at around 09:45 – a journey time of about 15 hours.

The train runs towards Stockholm as EN 344 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and back to Berlin as EN 345 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Stops along the way include Padborg, Copenhagen Airport, Lund, Hässleholm, Alvesta, Nässjö, Linköping, and Norrköping.

Heading towards Berlin, the train departs from Stockholm Central at 17:29, arriving at Berlin Gesundbrunnen at 08:56.
