FAQ Night Train: How can I protect myself from noise or light?
Earplugs are your best friend on the night train if you're a light sleeper.

Take earplugs and a sleep mask with you, especially if you are sensitive to noise and light. Headphones that suppress noise or play music also work.

The higher the comfort category and the smaller the compartments are, the fewer people and, therefore, the less noise and light you are exposed to. In other words, sleeper coaches are quieter than couchette coaches, and couchette coaches are more peaceful than seating coaches. In couchette coaches, the middle and upper beds tend to be less disturbed.

In sleeper and couchette coaches, you can switch off the light in the compartment, and there are curtains. In the seating coach, the light stays on all the time, sometimes it is dimmed down.
